40th Bday...

Well...I leave today for a MUCH awaited 40th birthday trip with my best friend (for the past 30 years, since grade 5) to Orlando, Florida.

It's a trip that....
  • we have been planning for several years (possibly for over a decade) - we just always talked about our 40th birthday's taking a trip
  • thought that it may not happen because of our adoption this year - but my hubby is the BEST
  • wasn't 'actually' planned and booked until a month ago
  • changed directions many times
  • is FINALLY here!
The whole while, our documents should arrive TOMORROW or MONDAY for us to take to the lawyer to have notarized - YAY!  They should be to our agency by mid April.

I only wish they would have arrived today so that I could have taken them to the lawyer's before I left - would have put my mind at ease.  BUT...at this point....SUN, SPA, SHOPPING, RELAXING, GIRL TIME - will probably take my mind off all this stuff for at least a few days.  BUT, worry NOT, the MINUTE I get home it's back to business!!!

Watch attachment happen before the camera!

I am just a babbling MESS....

WHY, oh WHY do I do this to myself!

I LOVE this video for so many reasons....it shows the little girl attaching as you watch it.

There are a few favourite parts....her first giggles with her new ma-ma and ba-ba and the very end when only 1.5 hours later, she is leaning into kiss her new mommy!!!

Oh precious!

OH MY....

I am a complete babbling mess since I heard this song (thanks alot Barb!).

Jacques even had a babbling moment listening to the words too.

That's all...just a 'had to share' kinda thing!!!

Home Study moves to the next stage - YIPPY!

A direct quote from our social worker:  "You have seen the very quickest & unfortunately one of the slower paces of the process.

So after there was an issue with Jacques medical (EVEN THOUGH it had already been discussed), I spoke to our agency directly and he advised what CHINA would need.

I shared this with our social worker, who shared the agencies thoughts with the 'higher ups' and they were satisfied with this.

Once this happened, we got to proof read our home study and now as of this afternoon, our home study is on to the next stage.  This is being done by our previous social worker, who knows it's coming and is on HIGH alert and willing to help us out to move things right along.  I mean...she has already COMPLETED a home study for us, so our new home study will be very familiar to her!

My fingers crossed that I can get our 'hard copy' in hand before Thursday (when I leave on my 40th bday trip) so I can hand it off to our lawyer to have it notarized.

Once this is done - only a few more steps before it goes to our agency.

I am BEYOND thrilled and excited!!!!

YIPPY....

My belly is in flip flops!

More delays :(

I mean COME ON...

NOW...they want a medical report written by the diagnosing doctor of Jacques' (in Moncton) from 1999, when he was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis.

OH........and did I mention that he has lived SYMPTOM FREE for 13 years now???

IF we indeed need a report from this doctor (who I hope is still in practice) - this could set us back WEEKS.

Can you imagine what the person at the other end of the phone from this ONCOLOGY office would say when I call and ask them to write a report for a patient from 13 years ago.  HA!

I'm working hard on trying to get something else that will suffice, considering our agency told me directly that sarcoidosis is NOT EVEN a red flag item for CHINA and he said that they would NOT require this!

Wish me luck!!!

Two weeks, less a day

....is what it took for a simple step to happen this time.

NOW...our social worker will be out of town for 4 days, so our file will sit for ANOTHER period of time.

THEN....I will be out of town for 8 days, so our file will sit for EVEN MORE time.

ALL THIS - totalling 4 weeks waiting time for what 'could have' taken 2 weeks :(

It is what it IS...and there is nothing I can do!

Stand Still = FRUSTRATION

So up until now everything has been going along 'tickity-boo' and then SCRRRRREEEECH.

Our file has been sitting on someone's desk now for 2 weeks tomorrow waiting for it to be reviewed.

The reason it hasn't been:  because she is BUSY :(

I'm frustrated.

It's all part of the process...I guess, but I don't like it one bit :(
